The fight for Essence

The Thoroks, natives to the land of Mothora and very much grassroots and users of ancient technology, already foresaw that the Conglomerate was coming, and had prepared for war years in advance. When they first watched Mothora’s most sacred resource being extracted - the Essence - by the Conglomerate’s early operations, their suspicions were confirmed: nothing but greed and a desire to conquer everything rules the outsiders. Eventually, this left the Thoroks no other option but to engage the Conglomerate and their strategic positions, coming in the protection of Mothora. Later, as the Conglomerate started to bring settlers and military this escalated to an all-out war between the two factions, and nothing was left on the table.

This conflict on Mothora brought attention to another faction existing in the dark underworlds of the planet. The Disciples of Cataclysm (DoC) are a corrupted sect of Thoroks cultists. They have existed since the dawn of time and practice darker magic that aligns with Mothora’s shadow self. Mothora is one planet, but it contains opposites in its being. The Disciples of Cataclysm have fallen victim to the attraction of the dark polarity, which has a special relationship to blood and death. The Disciples of Cataclysm use the $ESSENCE found in Mothora to develop blood-bending magic, possession and corruption. Because The Disciples of Cataclysm have been shoved to the underworlds of Mothora for millions of years, they evolved differently, and they developed different skills and ways of fighting.

When The Conglomerate arrived in Mothora, The Disciples of Cataclysm attacked several vulnerable military outposts and mining stations. They stole vast amounts of technology and Essence from the Conglomerate. Because the humans were not familiar with them, they did not know how to react to their ambushes. During the first year of the war, the DoC, ambushed logistics, possessed conglomerate soldiers and wreaked havoc behind enemy lines. But as the second year approached, the DoC came out of hiding. They had amassed an army of military weapons and technology, as well as thousands of possessed soldiers. The DoC now started to launch full-scale attacks on Thoroks and Conglomerate positions.
